Merry Renk

Though mostly a self-taught artist, Mary Renk briefly attended the Design Institute in Chicago to study Industrial Design. While there, she opened a contemporary arts and crafts gallery with two other students, and as a result, became interested in enamels on metal which combined her interests in painting and craft. In 1940 she left school, sold her gallery, and moved to San Francisco, where she became a full-time jeweler and painter.
