Artist Info
Ed WienerUnited States, 1918–1991

"Jewelry is perhaps the one field where artist-craftsmen have attained notable commercial success by operating their own retail shops, and Wiener's Madison Avenue boutique is unquestionably one of the more successful of these ventures. Entirely self-taught, Wiener opened his first studios in Provincetown and New York in 1946. The Provincetown shop was closed in 1965 so that he could operate full time in New York. Wiener specializes in one-of-a-kind gold jewelry, with an occasional limited production piece. His exhibitions from 1949-1958 included more than forty one-man and group shows. Since 1958, the artist has for the most part chosen not to submit his work to exhibitions."
