Lia CookUnited States, b. 1942
Lia Cook studied theater, painting, and ceramics before a trip to Mexico in 1965 inspired her interest in textiles. In 1967, she studied weaving in Sweden, and in 1971, she began studying textiles with Ed Rossbach at the University of California, Berkeley. In the late 1970s, she worked on several experimental techniques, incorporating photographic processes and three-dimensionality into her pieces. She has also experimented with loom techniques in order to combine photographic images and weaving in a single work. She teaches at the California College of the Arts
