William HarperUnited States, b. 1944
William Harper began his career as an abstract painter but in the early 1960's switched to cloisonné enameling to achieve more intense colors, becoming a leading innovator in the technique often adding a wide range of materials. Fascinated by mystical aura of amulets, charms, and tribal power figures, he began to produce enameled necklaces and brooches in gold, silver, and gemstones, as well as non-precious and found objects that evoke a sense of mystery and power.
