Sheila HicksUnited States, b. 1934

Sheila Hicks is a pioneer in the field of fiber arts. Beginning in the 1960s, she has used fiber materials and techniques to create large-scale sculptures and installations that have challenged installations. Her work has been influenced significantly through her travels in South America (where she researched on a Fulbright scholarship in 1957) and around the world, and her long-time status as an American living and working in Paris.
