Jack Lenor Larsen

"Because Larsen believes that 'fabric design is a whole operation, not a blueprintlike projection,' he formed in 1952 Jack Lenor Larsen, Inc. This company set out to explore the design possibilities of combining hand and power weaving by converting to the power loom many costly hand-weaving operations. His main supporting tenet is that design should grow natural beauty from the organic characteristics of the fiber to the ultimate function of the fabric. Larsen is a tastemaker whose design ideas branch out into architecture and fashion."
