MAD'S PERMANENT COLLECTION

The mission of the Museum of Arts and Design is to collect, display, and interpret objects that document contemporary and historic innovation in craft, art, and design. The Museum’s permanent collection includes over 4,000 works deriving from the post-war studio craft movement and evolving into contemporary arts and design today. Materials of production include but are not limited to ceramic, fiber, metal, wood, and glass, and works range in form from jewelry to sculpture. The permanent collection is fundamental to the Museum, forming the basis for exhibitions, educational programs, research, and interchanges with other institutions. The collection is also a means to chronicle trends and developments in the field and to influence its direction by bringing emerging artists to greater exposure.
