Jon Eric Riis

Jon Eric Riis was attracted to weaving during an orientation course at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After completing his B.F.A. and M.F.A., he taught textile and tapestry courses at Georgia State University, Penland School of Crafts, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, among other institutions. Riis has been producing his enormous commissioned tapestries for over thirty years. In addition, he is an avid collector of antique Asian costumes.
