Jim RoseUnited States, b. 1966

Born in Indiana in 1966, Jim Rose moved with his family to Paris, France when he was four. He lived in Paris for four years before moving to Puerto Rico and then to England. As a child, Rose spent much of his time scouring flea markets and antique stores with his mother and visiting museums in Europe with his family during the holidays. In high school, Rose developed an interest in photography, and in 1985, he earned his BFA in the subject from Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. His interest soon broadened to include sculpture, and in 1989, he completed a second BFA, in sculpture, from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois.

Rose has exhibited at the Sculpture, Objects and Functional Art Fair (SOFA) in Chicago, New York, and Palm Beach with Ann Nathan Gallery since 1995. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including shows at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Texas (2007); Mesa Contemporary Arts, Arizona (2006); and the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington D.C. (2004). In 2008, Rose was the recipient of the Wisconsin Arts Board Fellowship Award.
