Artist Info
Arline M. FischUnited States, 1931 – 2024

After earning her masters degree from the University of Illinois, Fisch was awarded a Fulbright fellowship (the first of four in her lifetime), to study metal at the Kunsthaandvaerkerskoln (School of Arts and Crafts) in Copenhagen, where she was heavily influenced by Danish design. In pursuit of her own voice, Fisch broadened her design vocabulary with extensive world travel, studying the techniques and aesthetics of ancient cultures. In 1975, she published Textile Techniques in Metal for Jewelers, a seminal book that introduced her groundbreaking methods of weaving and knitting precious metals. She continued to explore the use of textile techniques in her metal based jewelry design throughout the 80's and 90's.
