Steven Montgomery

Born in Detroit, Steven Montgomery describes a lack of visual stimuli in his formative years. Interestingly, his exposure to the arts was limited more to music, drama, and creative writing. He began working with clay in college; he worked in metals and drawing for several year after earning his master's degree before returning to clay in 1987. Montgomery's mistrust of technology inspired him to create his own ceramic machines in 1993.
