BiographyHaving completed a degree in art education, Mary Giles taught art to elementary school children for many years. In the 1980s, she participated in several basketry workshops with such fiber artists as Ferne Jacobs, Diane Itter, and Lissa Hunter. She is best known for her use of traditional coil construction techniques in conjunction with a non-Western aesthetic and inventive materials.Education: B.S., Mankato State University, 1966
