BiographySheila Hicks is a pioneer in the field of fiber arts. Beginning in the 1960s, she has used fiber materials and techniques to create large-scale sculptures and installations that have challenged installations. Her work has been influenced significantly through her travels in South America (where she researched on a Fulbright scholarship in 1957) and around the world, and her long-time status as an American living and working in Paris. Throughout her career, she has created her own work, as well as collaborations with businesses and architects. Education: B.F.A, Yale University, 1957; M.F.A., Yale University, 1959
