BiographyWendell Castle began making furniture in the late 1950s. His earlier pieces were based on industrial design concepts and processes. Later in his career, he turned to more sculptural, non-utilitarian designs. He became a major force in the growing insterest in handcrafted furniture in mainstream America. He is known for his superior craftsmanship, exotic materials, and visual humor.
