BiographyThe daughter of a tool and die maker and a seamstress, Michelle Holzapfel began carving wood and doing linoleum and woodblock prints in high school. In 1976, she started a woodworking business with her husband David. At this time, she began experimenting with turning and carving. She inherited a metal-working lathe from her father which she modified to work with wood. Today, Holzapfel is best known for the finely detailed carving on her pieces.
