BiographyStromquist is primarily a self-taught artist who has focused on the forms and designs of his Interior Salish cultural heritage. He began printmaking in the early 1990s, and subsequently worked with glass under sculptor Douglas Baker, with whom he would later collaborate. He was introduced to wood carving in 1997 under the tutelage of George Pennier. Stromquist's sculptures and installations often reflect his profound love and respect for nature.Years: United States/Navajo, b. 1934
