Biography"The cast-acrylic sculptural forms of Freda Koblick bring to plastics the results of twenty-five years of study and experimentation. Pushing technology to the utmost, she fully explores the expressive possibilities of surface, transparency, reflection, and diminution that the material allows; and stylistically she expresses a lyrical and sensitive response to organic sources that one does not ordinarily associate with plastics. From 1965 to 1967 she was Senior Research Fellow at the Royal College of Art in London, invited by that institution to set up an experimental study group in plastics. She has lectured and given workshops in the United States, Czechoslovakia, England, and Sweden. Even though many of Miss Koblick's works have been commissioned for architectural uses, she finds such work 'frustrating because of its spatial limitations--no development, no sequential order.' Miss Koblick has exhibited both abroad and in the U.S., including a one-man show at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts, New York."
