Kazumi Ikemoto
Japan, b. 1954
Kazumi Ikemoto was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1954. He graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts in 1978 with a degree from the Department of Plastic Arts. His works have been featured in numerous group exhibitions, yearly since 1977. In 1987, Ikemoto received an Achievement Prize from Glass '87 in Japan, sponsored by the Japan Glass Artcrafts Association. In 2004, he was presented with the Jurors Award from the 32nd Annual International Glass Invitation in the USA. Starting in 2002, the artist has lectured at various institutions including the Suntory Museum of Art (2002), the Kanazawa Udatsuyama Craft Workshop (2005), and the Osaka University of Arts (2006). Since 2007, Ikemoto has been a faculty member at the Tama Art Univserity in the Department of Ceramic, Glass and Metal Works. Among his solo exhibitions were a show at the Sinsaibashi Daimaru Department Store in 2004 and, most recently, a show at the Chappell Gallery in New York in 2007.
