Biography"Educated initially in commercial art, Smith first learned the fundamental technique of jewelry making from a colleague while he was teaching crafts at a children's workshop over twenty years ago. He immediately applied these techniques to his own personal expression and has been making jewelry ever since as a full-time artist-craftsman. Smith opened his own shop at about that time in New York's Greenwich Village and has continued to operate successfully ever since. He has shown frequently in exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in new York and at Bennington College and Indiana University, where he has also lectured."Education: Cooper-Hewitt Museum of Design (New York).
