Mark Curtis Peiser

United States, b. 1938
Place of BirthChicago, Illinois, United States
Biography"Peiser's involvement with glass was arrived at through an unusually circuitous route. He studied electrical engineering, industrial design, and music composition, and then began to work with glass at the Penland School of Arts and Crafts in 1967. His rapport with the creative possibilities of this medium was so strong that he abandoned his career in the industrial-design field, closed his business in Chicago, and has remained resident glass blower at Penland, North Carolina, ever since. He has attained his main mark of individuality by the startling surface effects on his basically functional forms, many of which are extensions and variations of art nouveau designs."
