BiographyYoshiteru "Yosh" Sugiyama is considered a master basket turner, and introduced the groundbreaking segmented turning basket technique in the 1980s, for which his own art exemplifies. He lived in Oakland, California for most of his life, and his works were exhibited in numerous galleries. In the 1990s, two of his segmented bowls were featured in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where they remain today. He passed away in 2007.
