BiographyA visual arts graduate from Winthrop College, Russell Biles started his career with painting, but found that he most enjoyed making paintings of sculpture. He then learned to work in clay and honed his skills to be able to make the complicated figures he envisioned. As his expertise in ceramics grew, he turned to popular culture and political subjects. Biles has become most known today for his sculptural satire. He has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions, most recently the Pickens County Museum in South Carolina held a solo show for Biles in 2001.
