BiographyFaith Ringgold is a world-renowned painter, sculptor, performance artist, writer, teacher, and quiltmaker. She is a professor of art at the University of California in San Diego. She has received many awards and fellowships, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Fellowship for painting and two National Endowment for the Arts Awards. In addition, she has received many accolades for the eleven children's books she has written and illustrated. Education: B.S., City College of New York, 1955; M.A., City College of New York, 1959
