BiographyBorn in Detroit, Steven Montgomery describes a lack of visual stimuli in his formative years. Interestingly, his exposure to the arts was limited more to music, drama, and creative writing. He began working with clay in college; he worked in metals and drawing for several year after earning his master's degree before returning to clay in 1987.
